Täna avasime Otepääl koolinoorte MM-i suusatamises

Minu tänane kõne maailmameistrivõistluste avatseremoonial:

Honoured athletes, dear guests and sports friends

Welcome to Estonia, welcome to Otepää to the ISF Cross-Country Ski 2014 World Schools Championships.

I`m glad that nine countries, all together about 150 best young athletes around the world have gathered to participate in World Schools Championships here in Otepää. Welcome Austria, Belarus, Belgium, France, Germany, Latvia, Russia, Slovenia and Estonia. I wish all of you a great and unforgettable experience and good luck on track.

Dear athletes, I want to remind you that sports is not ONLY about WINNING, it´s also about health, about making new friends, having great emotions and getting unforgettable memories. It´s about learning new cultures and exploring new places and so on. So please, enjoy your competition and don´t forget to make new friends, to explore and to have fun!

Organizing World Championships is not an easy challenge. As you may have noticed spring has come to Estonia early this year and it has taken enormously big effort to do all the preparations, to produce the snow and to prepare the tracks with such a great sunny days. But we have managed. Big thanks for that to our excellent staff- here in Otepää and in Estonian School Sports Federation.

Great thanks to ISF, especially to mr president Andrea Delpin and to mr secretary general Jan Coolen for the trust, support and honour to organize these Championships. We thank Estonian Government and Ministry of Culture Affairs, also Estonian Olympic Committee for the support. And last but not least- great thanks to our super volunteers! THANK YOU!

Honoured athletes, dear guests and sports friends,

I declare ISF Cross-Country Ski 2014 World Schools Championships in Otepää OPEN.

Siin ka minu kõne lõputseremoonialt:

Honoured athletes, teams, organizers, supporters and fans- dear sports friends.

This week has been filled with great emotions, new records, fun and laugh, swet and tears, winning and loosing, lots of great memories and new connections. That’s what sports is all about.

Competition is always a celebration. We pour swet and tears on trainings. But competition is a moment of truth. It´s time to give everything we have. I hope all of you gave your best.

In school sports its not so important weather we win the competition or not, it’s about reaching our own goals and mountain tops. It’s about having fun and enjoying what we do. That’s most important.

All big goals are accomplished in cooperation, never alone.

Big thanks to all delegations- athletes, coaches and support teams- who managed to come to Otepää and participate. We are honoured. Thank you once more Austria, Belarus, Belgium, France, Germany, Latvia, Russia, Slovenia and Estonia. Please give yourself a big aplause!

I’m proud to have such a great team. We thank ISF for the support and help. Great thanks to Estonian Government, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Estonian Olympic Commitee, sponsors and supporters.

It´s hard to express how grateful we are to our organizers. Local Tehvandi team was on the highest level. Big thanks to all of you, especially to mr Alar Arukuusk who proved that skiing is possible in every weather conditions.

Our Race Director mr Madis Pettai and Chief of Competition mr Paavo Nael and their teams did outstanding work to keep everything going and under control.

Last but not least, big thanks to our great volunteers and to their team leader Eilika Trummar- without you we couldn´t manage.

Dear friends, lets give once more a big aplause to everybody. Thank you.

I declare ISF Cross-Country Ski 2014 World Schools Championships in Otepää CLOSED
